Of all the Vampire romances I have read, Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Supes (Supernaturals) are my favourites. Sookie herself is adorable - typical American blonde, beautiful figure, slight frame but her ability to read minds has always set her apart from the "normal" people of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Sookie works as a waitress at Merlotte's Bar and Grill. She's not educated but she's smart. Her Supe world includes Vampires, Weres (Werewolves), Shifters and in this book witches, fairies and wiccans. OK, so you have to be in the mood for this crazy stuff, but if you are, Charlaine Harris sure writes an entertaining story. I first met Sookie in Dead Until Dark. She became attracted to Bill Compton, the gorgeous vampire next door, for many reasons but especially because she couldn't read his mind! He introduced her to his vampire world, including his hunky Viking-type boss, Eric, who owns Fangtasia, a vampire bar in the next town. In this story Bill and Sookie have had a serious falling out and she rescues amnesiac, Eric, who she hides at her house because one of the most evil witches of all time, Hallow, is after him. Many of Sookie's other admirers and suitors are featured in this story: Sam Merlotte, her Shifter boss, werewolf Alcide Herveaux (from the previous book Club Dead) and a new one - Calvin Norris, a were from Hotshot. Besides the witches hunting down Eric, Sookie's brother Jason has disappeared so the story focuses on hunts, danger and action. Sookie is the type of girl all the Supes naturally want to protect and/or bed, so there's lots of sexy action as well! For a fun-filled, action-packed, romantic supernatural story - turn to Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels - they don't disappoint!
