Although I have read most of Christina Lauren's books, I have found several of her more recent titles to be not quite as entertaining as others. Unfortunately, this novel is not one of my favorites. While it was a fine"beach read" type of book, it was a bit too trite and predictable. I found the characters too one dimensional and the plot easily deciphered. The heroine was a bit too unsure of herself and the romance didn't have much in the way of obstacles to overcome. Perhaps I couldn't relate very well to the heroine since she was very much a small town girl and I am not. The setting was an interesting one, since it mostly took place in Wyoming. I definitely felt that the characters should have been more complicated individuals and I would have liked to see Carey set out more on her own to discover who she truly is and what she wants. James could have used a bit more fleshing out with less predictable engineer type of behaviors and more facets to his personality. I also found the Tripps to be very one dimensional as well and hard to believe. All in all, I would choose one of Christina Lauren's other books, if I were looking to recommend them and would steer clear of this one. I'm hoping that their next book that is due to be released in October will be better.
