Based on the book by the same name, the 2012 film Life of Pi is a drama centered around a boy lost at sea, that leaves you with more questions than answers. This movie is beautiful in every way possible. The acting, especially Suraj Sharma's portrayal of Pi Patel really leave chills and adds an emotional attachment for the movie. The cinematography and use of colours at sea was breathtaking and extensively detailed. It isn't only this, but also the movie's over-aching message of believing in the "impossible", really staying in your mind well after first watch. Would definitely recommend. 5 Stars. @Ruby_Tuesday of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library This was one of the best movies I have ever seen. It made my cry, but I loved it so much. This film is not your typical one. The storyline was extraordinary, and it was excellently made. There was not a single moment when I was confused, or did not understand what was going on. It is an easy movie to follow, and is quite an enjoyable one. Overall, I would definitely recommend this film. I would rate this film 5/5. @potterhead of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Life of Pi is about a boy named Pi Patel who is very intelligent and is the son of Santhosh and Gita Patel who have decided to move to Canada and sell their zoo in India whilst bringing a few of their animals with them. Unluckily for them, while traveling a really bad storm appears and prevents the Patels from reaching their journey. As a result, Pi is the last of the Patels to survive and escape onto a nearby lifeboat but, sadly Pi is not the only one who arrives onto the lifeboat. A bengal tiger named Richard Parker is also there with him. Pi must now not only survive against the ocean and weather but, also against his fellow passenger, Richard Parker. Life of Pi was a fantastic movie with heartwarming moments, moments that make you feel glad you are not in Pi Patel’s situation and also some comedic moments. I would definitely recommend Life of Pi and my rating for it would be 4.5/5. @Grimvar of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
