I enjoyed this film. This to me is an art house film and what a gem it is. Victor Sjostrom is brilliant as the aging professor Isak Borg. I always like dream scenes and there are a few good ones. Very Luis Bunuel Surrealist. There are also flashbacks and other unexpected interruptions that make the drive to Lund (the professor is to receive an award) a life-changing experience (look for Max von Sydow in a bit part as a gas station attendant). Woody Allen, when he starred in his earlier films, always argues and defends the brilliance of Ingmar Bergman films to other characters in heated discussions. I admit I thought of Woody a few times in some of Wild Strawberries philosophical discussions amongst the characters.
